Electric Vehicle Charging Station Installation
Our client is a well-known stone and aggregate processer who operates across Ireland recently installed an Electric Vehicle Charging Station. Our client wished to reduce their carbon footprint as part of their sustainability goals. Their goal is to ensure that the extraction of aggregates and associated activities whilst benefiting todays generations should not adversely impact future generations.
Our clients came to Trident to design and install an Electric Vehicle Charging Station in their head office. The company have begun replacing their company fleet with Electric Vehicles and wants to encourage their staff to switch to Electric Vehicles. They are doing this by introducing a charging station which their staff could use during working hours.
The Challenge
Our clients have a heavy energy requirement across their plant. They currently use various energy sources e.g., electricity, fossil fuel generators in their processing plants etc. The Electric Vehicle charging station needed to be incorporated seamlessly into an already complex electrical system.
In addition, the charging station needed to be accessible to all employees and their cars. The station needed to charge cars quickly and efficiently. We proposed that our client install industrial car chargers and we chose to install high quality and durable Schneider car chargers.
The Implementation
The team in Trident Controls started the project with a deep dive review of the clients requirements and the existing electrical network in our clients premises.
Our client completed an analysis of the volume of Electric Vehicles that would potentially use the system both now and in the near future as Electric cars become more mainstream. Trident Controls installed 4 dual car charging points allowing for 8 cars to be charged at one time.
Trident Controls engineers’ drew up Electrical schematics and project documents and presented these to our client and the project details were mutually agreed. The target date for the project was agreed and all stakeholders engaged.
As per our Guaranteed Irish Ethos, Trident Controls sourced the highest quality component parts for our clients Electric Vehicle charging station and associated electrical distribution board, buying over 95% of the component parts required from our trusted Irish suppliers.
The Result
Trident installed and commissioned the Electric Vehicle Charging station and associated distribution board in Oct 2022. Employees immediately started using the charging station and employee feedback has been extremely positive.
Our client and their employees were able to save up to 8.7 tonnes of carbon emissions per vehicle (dependant on vehicle type) annually in comparison to fossil fuel vehicles. In addition, our client is promoting sustainable transport in their organisation and plans on implementing more sustainable projects across all their business locations.
Client Feedback
This project was a significant investment for our client. The project itself was not a revenue generating project but a commitment to their employees that the company is playing their part in combatting climate change. This project is the first in a series of similar environmental projects the clients has in the pipeline.
“We were delighted with the complex work that Trident Controls completed for us recently. The project is the first of many environmental projects we have in the pipeline and we will engage with Trident on future projects. Their technical know-how and problem-solving experience were second to none. We would have no hesitation in recommending Trident Controls.”
